Get to Know the Blue Economy

To support the Blue Economy, you have to know where you fit in it. Understanding how you as a resident, visitor, business owner or worker fit into the big blue picture is the best way to understand the value of building the Blue Economy as a recognizable, regional identity. So how do you fit in?

Dark Blue

Dark blue businesses and organizations are dependent on their proximity to water. Ask yourself, could you do what you do without the water? Examples of Dark Blue industries are fishing, deep ocean research, and offshore wind.

Medium Blue

Is your business stronger because of proximity to, but not reliant on, bodies of water? Then maybe you're in the Medium Blue category. Examples of medium blue businesses are luxury hotels and seafood restaurants.
