About Us

Learn about our mission, what we do, and who we are.

The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation, Inc. was established in 2017 to provide structure and support for the Cape Cod Blue Economy Project.

Launched in 2015 by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the Blue Economy Project was a regional initiative to promote and sustain a maritime-focused economy on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Plymouth. This effort was built on existing tourism industries, a world class marine research and technology cluster, and sustainable use planning dedicated to preserving our environment and quality of life. Initial project support funding was provided by a grant from the Baker-Polito administration’s Seaport Economic Council.

This work initiated by the Blue Economy Project continues through the Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation’s programs, initiatives, and events in alignment with our mission.

Earth’s surface is about 71% water covered. It makes sense, then, that Blue Economy organizations exist all over the world. We’re learning from other organizations, partnering with them, and sharing our collective knowledge and experiences with Blue Economy organizations near and far.

The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation's day-to-day operations are managed by Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce staff, with oversight and support from the Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation Board of Directors.
