ROV Lease Area Survey
August 28 – September 30, 2024
On August 28, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) survey is scheduled to begin in federal waters in the southwest corner of SouthCoast Wind’s lease area, approximately 38 nautical miles (NM) south of Martha’s Vineyard. The survey is to determine if the target area is of archaeological significance.
Conducted by the vessel, TM Diligence, this 1 to 2 day survey is scheduled to start August 28th and will conclude by September 30th (pending weather delays). The ROV vessel will be stationary, restricted in its ability to maneuver, and connected via an umbilical cord when deployed. Please observe a minimum 0.5 NM passing clearance.
The TM Diligence will be broadcasting on AIS for the duration of the survey and monitoring Channel 16 VHF for any concerned traffic.
- Survey activities will be conducted in accordance with federal and state regulations and health & safety policies and procedures.
- Survey activities and locations have been posted to the Local Notice to Mariners in U.S. Coast Guard District One.
- Survey vessels will conduct work activities in accordance with the need to respectfully coexist with fisheries vessels, gear, personnel, and other waterway users.
