1566 Main St. in Chatham

Fishermen’s Alliance is holding its fourth Fishermen Training from May 7 to 9, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at our office, 1566 Main St. in Chatham. The three-day training covers crew expectations, gear handling, fisheries, safety, cold water survival and more. The course was pushed by industry as the local fleet is greying, and captains are concerned they aren’t seeing the next generation coming up in sufficient numbers. At the same time, those who want to pursue a career in the industry don’t know what path to take or the variety of options available. The course is free and includes a $300 gift card to Cape Fishermen Supply to recruits who complete the program, so they can get essentials they need before hopping aboard a new career. Space is limited. Contact Ray Rowell for more information: raymond@capecodfishermen.org or 508-945-2432 x102 or sign up HERE
